CA, 2001-June, 2004.
Responsible for communications (web-45,000 pages/month; newsletter-circulation
10,000; listserv-5,000 subscribers; various other media), office management,
volunteer management and other duties for this nonprofit environmental organization
founded by activist Julia Butterfly Hill.
Director / Videographer / Digital Video Editor. Counterbalance Foundation, 1999-2002. Directed the videotaping of a series of Science and Religion conferences. I also edited these videos on Final Cut Pro for distribution on the web (www.counterbalance.org) and other media.
Independent Producer. National Radio Project’s
“Making Contact,” Oakland, CA, 2000.
Produced half-hour public affairs radio programs. Duties included conducting
interviews, writing scripts, editing digital audio, and final production.
Show topics included an indigenous-led coup d’etat in Ecuador and religious
perspectives on the death penalty.
Newswriter (Intern). WBUR – National
Public Radio, Boston, MA, 1999.
Researched and wrote local news stories for Boston’s premier NPR news
station.
Duties included conducting interviews with major national political figures,
writing scripts, recording in the field and the studio, and editing audio.
Festival Co-Producer. Cambridge River Festival.
Cambridge Arts Council, Cambridge, MA, 1996-97.
Produced a music and arts festival for an audience of 93,000. Duties included
managing staff, budget and logistical planning, programming performers, negotiating
contracts, fundraising/grantwriting, promoting and agency communications,
emceeing.
Marketing and Production Assistant (Intern).
World Music, Inc., Cambridge, MA, 1996.
Learned the ins and outs of concert production. Duties included promoter liaison,
managing front-of-house and performer hospitality, writing promotional material,
promoting events through community outreach, ticket sales, and customer service.
Curriculum Coordinator. Continuing Education
Institute, Watertown, MA, 1997-99.
Project manager for a $230,000+ curriculum development grant, coordinating
the production of a comprehensive high school diploma program. Other duties
included writing/editing (grants and reports), budget and operational planning/negotiating,
teaching classes in computers and writing, and Access database development.
