Ceramic vesselsGrade 8 Project: Pick a character from your favorite children's book or artwork and create a vessel that resembles that character. (The body must be hollow, and the head removable).
CD-ROM DesignGrade 9 Project: Design a CD-ROM cover for an informational CD on a specific artist.
MasksGrade 9
Paper SculpturesGrade 7 Project: Working in pairs, create an abstract sculpture that depicts the words on the card that each student pair is given. Each card has one emotion and one adjective written on it. Use color that reflects the emotion and cut shapes and make forms that reflect the other word on the card (such as "pointy" or "wavy").
PuppetsGrade 7
Days of the Dead SkeletonsGrade 7 Project: After studying the human figure through drawing in art, and researching anatomy in science class, make a ceramic skeleton with movable parts. Select a profession, possibly something you would like to do when you are older. Make your skeleton appear to be doing something typical of that profession. Then, in the style of the pieces found in Mexico during the Days of the Dead, create an appropriate backdrop.
Action FiguresGrade 7 Project: Using aluminum foil, plaster of paris and gauze, create a human figure in action, doing something that you would like to do yourself someday. Create a prop that coordinates with the action of your figure and use wire to express movement.
